Travel app company mxData has signed a contract that will see it up sticks from Cheshire and move to a new office space in Manchester.
The firm, previously based in Fulshaw Park, Alderley Edge, has signed a five-year lease to rent 7,000 square feet of office space in Atlantic House on Atlas Business Park, which is located within close proximity of Manchester Airport.
It is believed that one of the key factors to this relocation taking place was the news that Travel Counsellors, another travel-based company, was also likely to move its headquarters. This move would see Travel Counsellors relocate from its Bolton town centre base to Trafford Park, which is a mere eight miles away from Atlas Business Park.
mxData was founded in 2004 and has since become one of the leading providers of live information and location-based services for mobile devices. The company’s success has seen millions of users download its transport information apps, which include myTrains, BusLondon and Tube Map.
Chief Operating Officer of mxData Dave Thomas has highlighted that the firm’s revenue over the last 12 months has increased by over 100% thanks to these award-winning services, which have generated more than 300 million mobile sessions.
When discussing the relocation of its offices, Thomas explained that now the company has consolidated its position as an industry leader, it can focus on providing better services through accessing the talent pool in Manchester, and by making the commute easier for its current employees.
