New figures have revealed that there were deals for 284,000 sq ft of office space in Manchester during the second quarter of 2017.

The data released by the Manchester Office Agents Forum show a 27% increase in office space lettings compared to the same quarter in 2016. Many large companies have relocated to or set up an office in Manchester in 2017.

Notable office space deals include CarFinance247 relocating to Universal Square and law firm Weightmans signing a deal for space at 1 Spinningfields. Co-worker firm WeWork is occupying 60,000 sq. feet of space in the No. 1 Spinningfields development, while Swiss distribution firm Disterlec is going to occupy a whole floor at 2 St Peter’s Square.

Outside of the city centre, there have been some significant office building deals in South Manchester. These include Vodafone moving into Pacific House in Wythenshawe, and Lookers car dealers moving to Aspect House in Altrincham.

The Salford Quays and Trafford area continues to prosper, with deals for 84,000 sq. feet of office space. The largest deal was for 21,200 sq. feet of space in Regent’s Place, Salford for the Convergys group.

There are a number of other large deals that are pending. It is expected that the total office space deals in Manchester this year could exceed one million sq. feet. If this happens, then 2017 will be the fourth consecutive year that deals have resulted in over one million sq. feet of office space being occupied by new or relocating clients.
